About Duvili Ella Waterfall
Named 'Duvili Ella' (meaning 'Dust of Water Falls'), this magnificent natural feature earns its name from the perpetual haze of micro-droplets it hurls into the forest air as a sheer curtain of water crashes against vertical granite cliffs.
Deeply hidden within the buffer zone of the Sinharaja forest, reaching Duvili Ella is an authentic adventure. You trek past lush fern gullies, cross shallow bubbling brooks on stepping stones, and hear the crescendo of rushing water long before the waterfall reveals itself through the trees.
The pool at the bottom is deep and flanked by ancient moss-draped boulders. The cooling breeze created by the descending water is so refreshing that visitors often describe it as nature's own air conditioner.
