About Lankagama Suspension Bridge & Gin River
Located just a few footsteps from Rainforest River Song Villa, the historic Lankagama Suspension Bridge spans the wide, crystal waters of the Gin River. Originally built to link remote rainforest hamlets, it has become one of the most picturesque landmarks in southern Sri Lanka.
Standing in the center of the gently swaying timber deck, you are treated to a 360-degree panorama of pristine wilderness: the sparkling river rushing over natural river boulders beneath your feet, lush mountain slopes blanketed in tea gardens to the south, and the towering green ridge of Sinharaja to the north.
It is an idyllic spot for an early morning stroll with a warm cup of Ceylon tea or an evening sunset walk, watching river swallows dart across the water and breathing in pure, mountain-oxygenated air.
